I wish I could tell you! Ever since I brought Davin home from the hospital, not much has been accomplished. I think I am finally getting over whatever I came down with and Davin is catching up on much needed sleep that he was unable to get while in the hospital.
We are getting used to taking medications at certain times of the day and at taking our blood pressure at least once a day. It is hard for us to believe that just a week ago D was admitted to the ICU and uncertain of what would happen next. I cannot tell you how many times he goes over the events of that day and is amazed and thankful at how quickly we acted. Especially because he should have been working that day and not at home. He had only taken one day off before the new year and that Saturday was it. Although I know his co-workers would have taken care of him, I am not sure the reaction would have been as fast. Let me just say now that there will be a plan in place and all will be brought up to date! Honestly, everyone should have one, but times like this make you realize how important it is to have and ready to react.
Well, guess it is time for me to go and figure out what day it is, what time it is and no worries on the last one. If I start questioning where i am then someone please check my medication and help poor D as I am no good to him obviously!

D is home!
Although I haven't had a chance to write, Davin was released from the hospital yesterday and was able to come home!! We were thrilled to say the least!! It is never easy to be stuck in a hospital bed, nor know that there is a chance you might be able to go home and can't. I tried to prepare him in case it didn't happen, but he would not hear of it! So, thankfully he was allowed home anyways.
Between the two of us, we have not had much sleep since last Saturday. For him, trying to sleep in between blood pressure monitors, tubes, blood being taken, etc and as for me it was worry, worry, and more worry along with not feeling well. We have both been in and out of it since we got home yesterday. I would say he got released around 1 - 1:30pm. The very first thing we did was get him situated on the couch and we celebrated Christmas now that he was home. My dad came over and we got a kick at how excited Petey was to have his daddy home and all the gifts he could sniff at! I then had to get to Walgreen's to fill Davin's prescriptions and gather a few items for the house. Davin was extremely happy to be able to take a nice, hot shower at home and get into his own bed! We got his meds worked out and both went to la la land which was more than needed!!
Can't say much was accomplished today either, as we have both been in and out of it. Sadly enough, more me than him. I can barely keep my eyes open and I am guessing the meds they gave me are the cause of this. I still have a bit of a voice, but comes and goes. I like to think I sound like a sexy Joan Jett, but my sister said last night I sounded like Minnie Mouse. not really the sound I was going for...lol
We will be getting in touch with his primary care doctor tomorrow, as well as we must make an appointment with his neurologist for next week too. Davin is not a big fan of doctors offices, hospitals and such, but guess who will have to be now?!

Post Christmas Gift?
Well, Davin was not able to come home yesterday. We must admit we were a bit disappointed, but would much rather him be there another day or two then have to go back.
Davin is looking for a bad pin cushion! Poor guy has been stuck so many times over the past 4 days. But, thankfully I think they are pretty much done with taking all the blood, giving meds via drip, etc. The reason they have not allowed him to come home yet, is because while his BP has improved it tends to spike for no reason and that is of concern. So the doctors are doing all kinds of tests on him to try and find out why this is happening. Their concern is that there is something more than just normal hypertension that is causing the spikes. However, as of yesterday afternoon the drip meds were stopped completely and now he is on pill form only. They were giving him pill form, while continuing the drip. As of this morning, Davin reports that his BP has been better than ever so the meds seems to be working great! Here's hoping today is the day he will get to come home! Although, I am trying not to get my hopes up. :)
Davin did receive an extremely special visit yesterday. For those of you that may not know, Davin began cooking meals for our local fire station over a year ago. We coined it "First Friday Feed a Firefighter". The guys loved it of course! If you have had the pleasure of Davin's cooking, then you can relate! Anyway, Davin's mom called the fire station and told them of Davin's condition. They showed up yesterday and brought Davin a framed fireman's badge that said "Get Well Soon from the guys at Station 5!". As soon as I can download the pics from my phone, I will post a picture of it. It was incredibly special and meant more than they will ever know. They did ask why we didn't call them, as they would have gotten him to the hospital as fast a possible and taken good care of him! Good to know we have friends in special places!!
Well, again I am hoping today will be the day to bring Davin home but if not then my goal is by New Year's Eve!! For those of you that knew of our vacation plans to California, yes they have been cancelled. We will reschedule for a later time once Davin has been released to do so.
Write again soon...

An Update...REPOST FROM EMAIL
An update:
Davin is still in ICU and will be there until tomorrow at least. We are hoping to have him home for Christmas. The bleeding in his brain stopped and they do expect a full recovery. Right now, it is just a matter of getting his blood pressure under control. They hope to take him off the drip tonight and get him on pill form medication to come home. What a great gift to have him home for Christmas!!
In my own great style, I came down with an illness and haven’t been able to see Davin since yesterday. Obviously, they won’t let me in to ICU. I went to see a doctor today and had a steroid shot and pills for pain. This will definitely be a Christmas to remember!
Thank you for the phone calls, visits and help during this time. It is greatly appreciated and means so much to know we are loved.
Merry Christmas to all!

Good Morning All,
If you are not already aware, Davin had a hemo stroke yesterday.
He was not feeling well yesterday morning and went to lay down, but when he wasn’t feeling any better got up and began losing feeling in his left side. I rushed him to the hospital in Frisco, where it was confirmed it was a stroke. He never lost consciousness and from what the doctors are saying we caught just in time. His blood pressure was through the roof when we arrived and time was of the essence.
He is currently in ICU at Centennial Medical Center and doing much better. They are monitoring his blood pressure and taking various cat scans to ensure the bleeding in his brain does not get any larger. The deficits from the bleeding will be minimal and he should recover completely. As the doctor put it, an extremely lucky wake-up call.
We are not sure right now how long he will be in the hospital, but would appreciate your prayers.
Thankful,
Andrea Nicole
p.s. I will not be on email much, there are only certain times I am not allowed in ICU with Davin. You can call my cell phone at 972-740-2889 or text me if you want more info. I cannot guarantee that I will answer or be able to respond quickly, but will as soon as I can.

Oops! I did it again!
Okay, not really oops but I am doing it again! What you may ask? Remember the weight loss blog I had? At least for those of you that actually read it. I have decided to join the program again!
I had such great success with it and unfortunately I blew that success over the last year. So, my previous work-out buddy Cary and I went in today and re-joined! We start January 28th, which is their next cycle, because I will be gone first week in January and Cary will be gone the 3rd week. We wanted to start together and hit it hard. Well, we will see how hard we hit it after all this time! lol Actually, I have been gone a lot longer than Cary has and she has become a certified personal trainer since then. Either way, I am gonna have my bottom kicked! lol
I have already set a long term goal and two short terms. I am a bit concerned about how my body will react now that I have had the hysterectomy. Definitely something I am gonna read up on, but not that big of a deal. I just want to know how different it will be hormonally speaking.
Well, I just wanted to drop in and let you all know the latest. I am off to do some Christmas errands and the ever lasting company parties!
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and in case I don't write again between now and then, a Happy New Year!
p.s. D and I will be in California from the 30th - January 5th!!

Anyone wonder where I went?
Why am I so terrible at this? I love to talk, have much to say (easy there Peanut Gallery!) and have above average typing skills. So, then why don't I blog more?! I want to say time, but that just sounds lame. Honestly, I need to make time for it as it is the only way in which it will happen. My goal was to blog at least once a week, but seems more like once a month if you are lucky. Yes, I did say YOU!
I am now 2 1/2 months post operation and feeling GREAT! My scars are minimal, I am gaining my energy back. Yes, it can take that long. I can still tire pretty easily, but not sure if that is from the surgery or the drinking. lol But, I am doing great for those that are interested. I need to get back to the gym, but that is a whole other blog for another time!
Speaking of drinking...if you know me well enough, you know I love me some red wine! With the Holidays here and parties galore, I have been trying all different kinds. Of course, my fav is Australian red's but lately it has been all about dessert wines. I admit it is not for all, but really good if you have never tried. If only I could find another hobby that costs just a bit less!
With the Holidays here, there is so much to do. But, I would like to take a moment and thank all of you for the support and encouragement over the past year. For the laughs, the tears, the friendships and outings. Each one of you means something special to me and although I may not say it enough, thank you.
Okay, someone pass the tissue!!
