Places close by ,but never visited

It is amazing to me that people can live so close to very cool places in which to visit and never do. Well, consider me one of those people! This weekend, due to work event, I found myself in downtown Fort Worth. More specifically, the Stockyards! OMG...first, a dream come true for any cowboy, cowgirl, bar-hoppin' motorcycle ridin' fiend, or just your everyday tourist. We stayed in the Stockyards Hotel and although did not have the chance to wander much, I couldn't believe in all my years of livin' I had never experienced it. Just a very cool place in which to visit. I highly recommend for those that have never done so. If you like yourself some country music, then by all means you better mosey on down there!! I plan on gettin' myself back down there with D and really experiencing it, but until then I wanted to pass along the info.

The Holidays

The weather here has been outstanding! Love this time of year...although it probably should be winter like, we are experiencing fall like weather instead. The sun is shining and beautiful blue skies. Makes me know that the Holidays are approaching, but with this unseasonably warmer weather it tricks the mind. Makes me think Halloween is close, but not here yet. If it wasn't for some sending pictures of their kids trick or treating, I still might not believe it has come and gone. Where does the time go?

So now that Thanksgiving is just around the corner that means Christmas is not far behind. Now it is the time for all of the crazy Christmas shopping, traffic a plenty, people overflowing and not in the merriest of moods mind you! What is it about the Holidays that make people so crazy?! Is it family? Is it making sure you have the right foods, right decorations, right gifts? I have to admit I kind of dread it. I realize that not having kids does make a difference, but the Holidays haven't been the Holidays for me in quite some time. Maybe it is because I am an adult now. I still think of the Holidays as a child and those memories will forever be what the Holidays mean to me. Family, food, football (not on tv, but in the front yard of Aunt Jean's house), my mom cooking, making candy galore, decorations plentiful. She always knew how to make the Holidays special and it is times like now that I miss her so. Okay, I am totally in tears now. Actually feels kind of good to have a good cry. As I don't have them as much as I used to. Don't get me wrong, I can cry with the best, but it takes a lot more these days.

Well, now I need to blow my nose and get some things done before tomorrow. So, I will bid you all adieu for now. Goodnight all!

Holy Cow time flies!

Wow! It is November 2nd already. Since my last post, it seems hardly any time has passed. But, alot has happened. To update you, I went to the chuckwagon cookoff and was alot of fun. If you have never been involved with one or experienced one, I highly recommend! Great food and boy did it smell ever good! My friends were a little disappointed and stated that this one was the worst one they had ever cooked. Of course, Julie and I tasted the food and completely disagreed. We decided we must taste what they consider good.

It was a beautiful day, but did get a little sun and by the time I got home I completely passed out. So, much to my dismay I missed my friend's wedding. :( I should have known better to think I could handle so much activity in one day. But, when you feel good you think you can do anything! I did, however, attend my other friend's wedding at a house close by on Sunday. It was very small and intimate and was very nice. Yet, as soon as I got back home I was a goner once again. It actually took me a couple of days to recover from the weekend, but finally came out of sleep to do a little work towards the end of the week. Actually went to the office and boy did it feel good! One does not realize how much being productive means until you are not able to do so. I thrive off of it and being busy is best for me. I have gotten a few comments from others saying how they would love to trade with me to stay home and do nothing. While yes, I can understand that it seems like a grand idea really it is only grand if by choice. Makes me want to say, "Sure, take the pain, the bills, the meds, etc." Not really the time off that everyone hopes for!

Again, I digress! This week started my official week back to work. While it was great and I am so glad to be back, boy did it tire me greatly! I have slept like a baby every night and have the hardest time getting up in the mornings. While I am taking it at a slower pace, I do see how easy it is to overdo for anyone! It was only a month yesterday since my surgery. Can you believe it?! Speaking of surgery, I had my 2nd post-op appointment with my doc this past Monday. She did a vaginal check and says all looks good. I could resume all activities except still not able to lift anything heavy or immerse myself in water. My largest incision is still in the healing process and until the glue is completely gone from it, she wants me to take it easy so that I do not accidentally open it back up. OUCH! Before long it will be hard to tell that I even had surgery. Amazing what the science and medical field can do!

Back on the work topic, things are going well. I started my new position officially. For those of you that might not have heard, I am now a State Recruiter for Aflac. All of this happened right before my surgery, so I am just now able to start and get it running. There is much to do, but I am excited about it and of course right up my alley! It will take time to build for myself, but time well spent. I am still selling when I can, so for anyone that needs insurance or would like a quote please let me know!

Hope everyone is well and enjoyed their Halloween! I have enjoyed the pictures that have been sent of the kiddos in their costumes. Although neither Davin or I dressed up this year, Davin did have a great idea! He wanted to find a bear costume so that he could cut the arms off the costume and just wear the arms. He wanted to be the 2nd Amendment, "The Right to Bear Arms". lol There is a true Davin moment for ya...

Hugs and kisses to all!
